Faculty 47
Parallel Studios was engaged as a specialist subcontractor on the restoration of 47 Wellington Street, a landmark building originally designed by John Power in 1873. Led by Cityflats, the project transformed a building with a long and varied history, including use as a schoolhouse, HMCS Cataraqui Barracks, and a Queen’s University laboratory, into thoughtfully restored modern apartments.
Our scope focused on the heritage glazing, including the reinstallation of the original historic windows and the fabrication of period appropriate millwork to replace deteriorated sills, frames, and other original components. Work was carried out to stabilize the glazing and ensure long term performance while retaining historic detailing and material integrity.
Parallel Studios received recognition from the Frontenac Heritage Foundation for our contribution to the project.
